Throwback to Brylee’s First Birthday

Party planning is honestly one of my favorite things (hence why I started PandLProjectShop). For Brylee’s first birthday we did camping/fishing theme and it was so much fun to plan.

When I plan a party, I try to do themed food as much as I can. We did marshmallow bobber pops (and let me tell you these are 1000000 times easier to make than cake pops!)

To make these you need:

-regular sized marshmallow
-sucker sticks
-chocolate candy melts
-red gel food coloring (if you use water based your chocolate candy melts will seize up!) if not using red colored candy melts

First:

Melt your chocolate according to the package directions and then add food coloring to get to the desired red color consistency.

Then dip your sucker stick into the chocolate about 1 to 1 1/2 inches up.

Promptly place stick into marshmallow about half way down and allow to cool completely (harden). By the time you are finishing up your last few marshmallows the first ones should be hardened enough to start the next step.

Next carefully place the bottom of the marshmallow into the melted chocolate.

Then place on a piece of wax paper to harden completely.

I also made some fun “Fish” cupcakes. These are seriously the easiest thing to make. I just used regular cake mix for the cupcakes and then I actually bought a tub of white frosting from Sam’s Club for the frosting (You get a lot but it freezes well. I froze it in smaller zip lock bags so I could easily thaw them for other parties we had over the next few months.)

I used food coloring to color the frosting. I frosted the entire cupcake and then used regular M&M’s for the regular sized cupcakes as scales and mini M&M’s for the mini cupcakes. I used a small dot of white frosting and a mini chocolate chip for the eye (you could totally use the Wilton Candy eye’s though).

I also made Brylee a bobber smash cake by using a glass measuring cup to bake some leftover cupcake batter in. Then I just frosted it like a bobber.

You can purchase a bobber banner from our shop here

Here are some more photos of the party.

I used empty Starbucks Frappuccino glasses for the glasses. It ended up being cheaper to do it this way than buying just the glasses (plus I got coffee!) Just make sure you remove the labels with goo-B-gone and then wash them out really well (I ran them through the dishwasher).

This was such a fun and easy party to plan and make. If you have questions about anything else just leave it in the comments.
